Winterball is a developmental baseball league for players between league age 8 and 14 in which we coordinate play with other local little leagues (Rancho Santa Margarita, Trabuco Canyon, and Ladera Ranch

Winterball is broken into 5 divisions.  Placement is typically done by age, based on the division previously played, or by space availability.  Players will be at a division at least as competitive as the division played in the Spring 2007 season, and players cannot skip a division.  The typical age placement is as follows (Note that the age listed below is based on the child’s age as of May 1, 2008):

Since the placement is not done by tryouts, the division played in winterball may not be the same one that will be played in the Spring 2008 season.  Placement for Spring 2008 will be done by tryouts in January.

The Winter Baseball season is typically 10 or 11 games, starting after Labor Day, and finishing prior to Thanksgiving.  Most games are played on Sundays, but some may be played on Saturday when there is a field available at night.  Due to the lack of field availability, there will be limited practices, however, some teams may have practices in other facilities as permitted by the league.

Based on the other leagues, there may be some travel to the other league’s fields. This is a good experience for the children to play at some ball fields outside our league, but it is expected that most of the games will be here in Rancho Santa Margarita.
